Having attended my fair share of meetings where people politely nodded, I am well aware that the actual meeting takes place at the local watering hole. The White Horse Tavern in Rhode Island is the oldest restaurant in continuous operation in America and the tenth oldest globally. It became a tavern in 1673 and hosted many a conversation about the workings of government. They even sell the book “Taverns of the American Revolution.”
Today, the White Horse Tavern is known for its fine food with a historical experience. Parking is snug, so be aware if you have a big truck (the kitchen staff was impressed with our ability to tuck our twenty-two-foot F350 into the parking lot).
