Wine grapes where the weather hits negative 40 degrees, really? Apparently, yes. It does take a special hybrid type of grape to withstand the freezing temperatures of Miles City, Montana and the Tongue River Winery has plenty of them. Bob and Marilyn, the owners, were our hosts for the evening and could not be more friendly and informative.

We are members of Harvest Host and get to stay at wineries, breweries, museums, and golf courses throughout the county. On our way east from White Sulphur Springs, Montana, we selected the Tongue River Winery as a waypoint. We were treated to a wide selection of these special wines. The setting was quiet even though there were several other campers.

I would definitely recommend a visit if you are in the area.
