Texas in June is hot. The kind of hot that makes sleeping miserable. Scheduling a Harvest Host in 100-plus-degree heat may not have been the best decision despite our solar upgrade, but we survived thanks to our propane generator (fossil fuels for the win).
The Dancing Bee Winery at the Walker Honey Farm, located in Rogers, Texas, sits right off a four-lane highway. The store and winery are cute and make up for the dusty driveway we parked in. They do an excellent job catering to their Harvest Host guests by offering discounts on wine tasting and purchases.
We enjoyed our wine tasting and settled on a bottle of Strawberry honey wine and a frozen mead margarita. Additionally, we purchased a spicy mead that we gave to our daughter and son-in-law and a children’s bug game and book for our grandson.
Although there were fans on the back porch of the winery, the heat was still oppressive. After enjoying our beverages, we ticked in for the night. Sadly it turned out to be a very long night, but that is a story we can share in person if you ever meet up with us along our journey.
