It will be four years in August 2023 since we have been on the road. We love our adventures, but sometimes opportunity knocks, and you have to answer the door. So, we are settling down during the school year and leaving the Airstream adventures for the summer months.

I am the new teacher in Stehekin, Washington. Stehekin, Washington is a small community located in the North Cascades National Park. Accessible only by boat, floatplane, or hiking, this secluded town offers visitors a chance to escape the hustle and bustle of modern life and immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

One of the main draws of Stehekin is its remote location. The town is nestled in a valley at the head of Lake Chelan, a glacial lake that stretches over 50 miles through the Cascade Mountains. Visitors must take a ferry or private boat from Chelan, WA, to reach Stehekin, which adds to the sense of adventure and isolation.

The school serves students in grades K-8. There will be about eight students this coming school year and one teacher, me. As there are no apartments or homes for sale, the district rents a cabin provided by a local. We will be renting the Rainbow Cabin that sits across from Rainbow Falls. This is our new home. Excited to see where this new adventure leads.
