We, the people!

When 65 men came together to discuss what type of government should the newly formed country of the United States of America have, they could have created anything.  Working together, they created the most incredible system of government the world has ever known.  It has brought freedom and prosperity to most of the world and has worked to promote the rights and freedoms of all people.  These men knew that too much power in one person’s hands was a road to disaster and could not be allowed to happen.  They were at the mercy of a tyrannical king, so they were very aware of those results.  Three branches of power to check the other would keep the government in balance.  Based on the state’s population, a house of representatives represented the people to make sure their voices were heard.  Two senators to represent the states, elected by the state representatives, to make sure the state’s interests were heard.  Unfortunately, this was reversed by the 17th amendment, where a popular vote now elects them, corrupting the law’s true intent.  The supreme court checks the laws that Congress enacts to make sure they are not overstepping the laws laid down in the constitution of the United States of America.  And then the creation of the executive branch to “execute” the law of the land and no more.  To enforce the rules created by the representatives of the people and the state.  The most incredible form of government ever made in the history of the world.
